SuperRare is a leading NFT platform that showcases unique digital artwork by talented artists worldwide. As a user, you can explore limited single-edition digital art pieces, as well as artwork series, exhibitions, and galleries to build your collection. As you start, it’s important to have a clear idea of your goals in order to make the most out of the tools available on SuperRare.
Trust in your taste and why you love what you love. You don’t have to have a great knowledge of art history or digital art market trends to appreciate art. Experiencing and appreciating art is a very personal experience, visceral even. You can learn to listen to how you feel about a piece of art. Over time, you can develop the language to articulate why you love certain works, which can help you discover more like them. To learn how to do this well, it helps to make time to expand your knowledge of art history and cryptoart trends, at your own pace.
Do your own research. While we always conduct due diligence on artists before they join SuperRare, no system is perfect. Before collecting from an artist, do some research. If you can, speak to them directly on social media. Gather all the information you need to feel comfortable investing in artists you collect from.
Great art comes at various price points. You may not have hundreds of ETH to invest in art but that doesn’t mean you can’t collect great art. Investing in art within your budget can be a safe and enjoyable way to get started. Besides, discovering artists at the beginning of their journey in web3 can prove to be rewarding down the line.
Before you can collect on SuperRare, you first have to create an account and connect it with a digital wallet such as MetaMask, Trust Wallet, or any other wallet compatible with the platform. Your wallet will store the NFTs you purchase (Make sure to follow all the steps to keep your collection safe. Learn more [here](link to “Keeping your collection safe in…”).). Once you are signed up on the platform, there are several ways you can discover art and artists.
The homepage provides a starting point to discover featured artists and artworks. On the landing page, you’ll find a selection of artworks hand-picked by the SuperRare team. The homepage also shows Live Auctions, Trending Artists, Top Collectors, and Featured Releases. You can explore those to follow some of the most important exchanges on the platform.
You can use the search bar to find art by keywords, themes, mediums, or artists. Using the filters available, you can refine your search results by specifying price range, market standing, creation date, or type of artists. For example, you can decide you only want to collect AI animations from artists who have not sold yet on the platform at a price point below 0.5ETH. If you don’t have a clear idea of what you’re looking for, you can use the search function as an exploratory tool and refine it as you uncover some things you like.
When you come across an artist you like, click on their profile to explore their portfolio. Follow them on SuperRare, Twitter, and Instagram to stay updated on their latest creations and activities. The homepage will display updates from those artists in the For You tab, such as new mints, sales, and bids.
SuperRare has a thriving community of collectors, artists, and enthusiasts. Join the conversation on social media platforms like Twitter, Discord, or Telegram to share discoveries, discuss art, and learn about upcoming events. You can also join the SuperRare DAO, and follow hashtags like #SuperRare and #NFT on Twitter to stay informed.
There are two ways to find exhibitions on SuperRare. Exhibitions curated by SuperRare or in collaboration with guest curators and galleries can be found on the website under Features in the Discover tab. The Features page is also updated weekly with various lists:
Occasionally, SuperRare hosts physical exhibitions in collaboration with galleries. You can keep up with the program by checking the Galleries pages under the Discover tab. Seeing works in person and connecting with artists in the real world can be a great way to help you consolidate your collection and help you build relationships in the space.
Spaces are independently run storefronts on SuperRare that can curate art and artists, promote sales, run auctions, and collect commissions. New Spaces are proposed to the DAO and voted in by token holders. If approved by the community, a new gallery space is run by its own operating team, which could be a traditional art gallery, a DAO, an artist collective, or any other organization that curates and promotes art.
As of this writing, there are currently 54 Spaces that have held 53 exhibitions so far which have featured a total of 2835 artworks. You can explore Spaces here, choose your favorite, and follow them to stay in the loop of upcoming exhibitions and features.
